We have an immediate vacancy for the following position: -

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - Pressure Vessels

Our Engineering Department requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, document and communicate projects of varying size and complexity. This position has a focus on pressure vessels and requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer to take a lead role in the design and documentation of ASME vessels, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and working closely with our design team, managers and shop staff. Your primary focus will be to set equipment specifications and create detailed designs and drawings which satisfy the project scope. You must be comfortable making technical decisions, creating plans, interfacing with fabricators, vendors, clients, and partners on a continual basis, and controlling and reporting on activities.

This role requires an impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing projects on time. The ideal candidate is a self- starter that is willing to take ownership of projects. You must work well with a diverse and committed team and have excellent computer, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to the following:

    Perform design calculations, prepare technical specifications, and create shop drawings.
    Review designs and drawings to ensure compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable code or design requirements.
    Research equipment specification requirements; including direct contact with authorities, clients, and vendors.
    Support the project teams by improving internal processes and recommending design solutions.
    Maintain knowledge of relevant design codes.
    Identify quality requirements and ensure the proper processes are identified and implemented to achieve contractual quality commitments.
    Act as the Certifying Engineer and also prepare ASME documentation including data reports and CRN applications.
    Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
    Other duties assigned from time to time.

REQUIRED Qualifications:

    BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering.
    Registration or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
    10+ years relevant mechanical engineering design experience.
    5+ years pressure vessel design experience.
    Expertise in pressure vessel design in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Div.1/Div.2.
    Experience with structural design (seismic and wind load) applied to vessel designs.
    Working knowledge of PV Elite and AutoCAD.
    Experience creating drawings for a fabrication shop environment.
    Technical competence in plant process equipment design, with strong attention to detail.
    Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain a high quality of work.
    Ability to adapt to changing and competing priorities.
    Problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail are critical.
    Demonstrated experience designing custom equipment, following applicable codes and standards.
    Excellent time management, multi-tasking, organizational, and leadership skills.
    Ability to make decisions and maintain a high level of professional performance in a dynamic work environment.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
    Eligible to work in Canada.
    Willingness to be flexible and adaptable, do what it takes to get the job done attitude.
    Ability to quickly learn new skills.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

    Design of weldments and knowledge of welding processes.
    Familiarity with pressure piping design in accordance with ASME B31.1/B31.3.
    Experience with other North American design codes including API 660, 650 and 620.
    Experience performing custom heat exchanger thermal design, utilizing tools such as HTRI
    Experience with FEA and CFD for structural, thermal, and fluid flow design.
